Summer Rock Climbing Camps for Teens in Colorado & Wyoming
If you’re looking for the perfect rock climbing summer camp for your teen, Outpost Wilderness has been named a top 5 adventure camp by Outside Magazine, who referred to our programs as “like summer camp on steroids.”
Whether your teen is a beginner or more advanced climber, our rock climbing camps are focused on technical skills so youth can learn how to belay properly, build anchors, and expand their skill sets on the rock. Participants will have the opportunity to lead climb if they demonstrate the necessary skills, and multi-pitch climbing opportunities will be available as well when campers feel ready to scale bigger walls.
On both the Colorado and Wyoming rock climbing camps, we will visit both sport and trad climbing areas with a variety of rock types so participants can get a feel for different types of rock ranging from limestone to volcanic tuff to granite. Participants will sample styles of climbing including pulling on pockets, stemming up dihedrals, smearing on slab, and jamming cracks.
We believe rock climbing is for everyone, and our rock climbing camps are open to teens ages 13-17 of all genders (trans and nonbinary teens are welcome). Choose from an awesome climbing road trip around Colorado or an amazing adventure climbing in Wyoming!
Colorado Rock Climbing Camps
Our cornerstone rock climbing summer camp is our Colorado road trip adventure! Get ready to hit the road and leave the city behind for an entire week to focus on climbing in some of the most amazing climbing crags in Colorado.
On this trip, you’ll get the chance to sport climb the stunning limestone cliffs of Shelf Road near Cañon City and the unique volcanic welded tuff of Penitente in southern Colorado. You’ll also explore the trad areas of Elevenmile Canyon and Turkey Rocks in the South Platte on your tour of climbing in Colorado.
Along with all the amazing climbing at this rock climbing summer camp, you’ll also get a classic road trip experience as we travel around Colorado. We’ll visit local attractions, enjoy post-climbing meals at great locally-owned restaurants, and spend our nights camping under the stars near the crags. Your teen will definitely come home with memories that will last a lifetime!

Wyoming Rock Climbing Camps
Wyoming is home to some of the best rock climbing in the United States, and this ultimate rock climbing road trip will take you on a tour of the incredible stone in this state. One of the highlights of the trip is sport climbing on the stellar limestone pockets at the world-famous Wild Iris climbing area near Lander, Wyoming. You’ll also get to scale the walls on a variety of rock in Sinks Canyon nearby.
These are just a couple of the notable places that we’ll visit during this week-long rock climbing summer camp. Everywhere we go will have great areas for both beginner and advanced climbers, and participants will have an opportunity to learn basic and advanced climbing techniques including belaying, anchor building, trad climbing, multi-pitch, lead climbing, and overall climbing technique.
The Wyoming summer climbing trip is perfect for teens who want to hit the road for a week, escape into the wilderness, and focus on climbing. Along the way to our climbing destinations, we’ll visit cool local sights and enjoy tasty meals at local restaurants.
