Q: What does OWA do?

OWA is an adventure based guide service specializes in small group and custom programs in rock climbing, mountaineering, backpacking & hiking as well as mountain biking.

Q: Where does OWA operate?

OWA leads trip through the rocky mountain and Southwestern United States as well as Mexico . Our primary focus is Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Texas. We spend the Winters in Dripping Springs, Texas and guide at Reimers Ranch, The Greenbelt, Enchanted Rock and Reveille Peak Ranch during the Summer we are based in the mountains of Central Wyoming and guide on numerous peaks and rock climbing areas there including Wild Iris, Sinks Canyon and the Wind River Range. We also have a satellite location in Colorado where we guide Shelf Road, Penitente Canyon,  11 mile canyon, Turkey rocks, South Platte areas and South Park areas.

Q: Where does a program participant fly to?

A: For Summer Camp programs participants fly into the Denver International Airport.
B: For Moab/Fruita participants fly into the Grand Junction Airport.
C: For Wild Iris, Sink Canyon and Wind River Trips participants fly into the Riverton Wyoming or Jackson Hole Airport.
D: For Mexico Volcano Trips participants fly into the Mexico City Airport.
E: For Texas Hill Country Trips participants fly into the Austin International Airport.

Q: What time should a program participant arrive and depart at Denver International Airport?

A: We ask all participants to schedule flights between 9:00 am to Noon for arrivals and Noon to 3pm for departures (or as close as possible). An OWA staff member will be waiting for the youth at the exit from the secure parts of the airport. The staff member’s name and cell phone number will be e-mailed to you a few days before the start of camp. You can fly as an unaccompanied minor and staff can pick you up or drop you off from your gate if needed.

Q: What time should I bring my youth to camp if I am driving to the camp?

A: You can arrange to meet us on the road closer to where you live or at our first nights camp, these vary based on programs so contact us for details.

Q: What should I bring with me on an OWA trip?

A: A detailed equipment list can be found under the “Useful Forms” section of the website.

Q: How can I contact my child at camp?

A: We ask parents and campers to limit phone calls to occasional calls every few days.  You can also reach your youth via the lead guide on your trip or by emails info@outpostwilderness.com

Q: How much spending money should my youth bring to camp?

A: Most campers bring between $25.00 and $50.00 to spend during Town Day and to buy snacks and drinks with.

Q: Should my youth bring a cell phone?

A: It is helpful for youth to have access to cell phones at the airport and for travel days.  We ask that youth keep their cell phone use to a minimum during activities (other than photos), meals, group activities, campfires, etc…. we will ask youth with excessive cell phone use to put the phone away in their personal belongings.

Q: What happens if my child becomes ill or is injured?

A: Parents will be immediately contacted at the emergency number on their child’s health form. A First Responder and a staff driver will transport an injured or ill youth to the closest Urgent Care or an ambulance will be called if needed.
